It being the Roman Catholic Church's New Year can I recommend some reading? These books have inspired and influenced me:
The Narnian: the Life and Imagination of C.S. Lewis (see here ) by Alan Jacobs is well worth a read and gave me pause for thought on more than one occasion.
The Mountain of Silence: A Search for Orthodox Spirituality by Kyriacos C. Markides and his Gifts of the Desert: The Forgotten Path of Christian Spirituality. Both of these books are absolutely 'must reads' - they will inspire and challenge you. The first lead myself and two fellow friars to go on a pilgrimage to the Holy Mountain itself.
I hope these are of benefit to you.
